David Michael Schad began his career 42 years ago in southwest Florida where he started working as a draftsman for an engineering firm. He learned electrical and lighting design and went to college part time. David worked his way up the ladder to become a partner as his passion for lighting design grew stronger every day. After many years David moved back to Columbus, Ohio and family and started his lighting design practice, Designed Illumination. Working on commercial projects for Ohio State University, high end restaurants, religious and luxury residential projects.
David loves to ski and snowboard & the mountains, so he searched for years and then he moved to the "Greatest Snow on Earth", Salt Lake City, Utah. He took a Sr. lighting design position with a Salt Lake Lighting Design Group. He departed them after a while and reestablished his lighting design business, Designed Illumination, to pursue the Three Pillars of a great and fulfilling life. Passion - living with genuine passion for what you do. Peak Performance - Striving to perform your very best always and continue to get better. Purpose - Fulfilling one's God given purpose.
David has received International Lighting Design Awards from the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and his designs have been published in lighting magazines and luxury home magazines.
